You’ve wandered into the topsy-turvy world of Tulgey Wood, the blog of writer and historian Jim Fanning. Tulgey Wood celebrates artistry and creativity (and sometimes just plain madness): movies, animation, TV, books, comics—and of course Disney, lots and lots of true-blue, through-and-through Disney, including D23 and Disney twenty-three Magazine, and Sketches Magazine and the Walt Disney Collectors Society. Tulgey Wood is so fun, fascinating and full of frolicsome photos and facts, it’s scary. So wander through the wonder of it all, and enjoy.

Welcome to the Countdown to Halloween 2021

Welcome, foolish mortals, to the 2021 Countdown...31 days of macabre merriment that will lead us straight to the spookiest day of the year! Since our first day is the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, let's start with a look back to 1971. This spectacular spread shows off the brand new Magic Kingdom in from one of the very first publications focused on Disney in Florida. The Story of Walt Disney World: Commemorative Edition was originally issued in the resort’s opening year, offering a rare, behind-the-scenes look at this new "world" named in honor of Walt Disney. What does this have to do with Halloween? Look closely (click on the link for a beautiful larger view) and you will spot a beauty shot of the Florida resort's distinctive Haunted Mansion, designed to fit in with its Liberty Square home. Come on back tomorrow (and all through October) for more Halloween fun. And don't forget to visit all the blogs ready to spook you during this month-long scary-bration.

Ahh the old Disney World. I went in 1972 and remember loving the Haunted Mansion as well as being completely charmed by Main Street.
