You’ve wandered into the topsy-turvy world of Tulgey Wood, the blog of writer and historian Jim Fanning. Tulgey Wood celebrates artistry and creativity (and sometimes just plain madness): movies, animation, TV, books, comics—and of course Disney, lots and lots of true-blue, through-and-through Disney, including D23 and Disney twenty-three Magazine, and Sketches Magazine and the Walt Disney Collectors Society. Tulgey Wood is so fun, fascinating and full of frolicsome photos and facts, it’s scary. So wander through the wonder of it all, and enjoy.

Danny Gets Into The Halloween Spirit

Danny, the little black lamb from Walt Disney's So Dear to My Heart, is featured on this Rexall drugstore promotional cover. As we celebrate this year’s Countdown to Halloween 2026, we look back to this incredible art by legendary Disney artist Hank Porter from October 1948. As the pumpkin balances on Danny’s head, I’m sure the crows above wonder how on earth he does it. After all, it’s what you do with whatcha got that counts! PS you can read the article I wrote about So Dear to My Heart for D23 here.
