St. Valentine's Day With Devilish Dennis
Dennis has his own special way of giving a Valentine gift, especially to ol’ Margaret, as seen in this marvelous cover for the Dennis the Menace comic book (#50, dated April 1961). Though former Disney artist Hank Ketcham created the famous newspaper comic panel, the comic books were drawn for many years by Al Wiseman, including this unconventional (except by Dennis’s standards) Valentine cover.

This is fun to see - I enjoyed the Dennis the Menace comics immensely as a kid, and learned an awful lot from the issues where he travelled to real locations. On my first visits to the Queen Mary and the Winchester "Mystery" house, the places felt familiar because I'd seen them before in Dennis the Menace. Oh, and a lot of the stories were very funny too - a good translation of a character from single panel to multi-page books.
