You’ve wandered into the topsy-turvy world of Tulgey Wood, the blog of writer and historian Jim Fanning. Tulgey Wood celebrates artistry and creativity (and sometimes just plain madness): movies, animation, TV, books, comics—and of course Disney, lots and lots of true-blue, through-and-through Disney, including D23 and Disney twenty-three Magazine, and Sketches Magazine and the Walt Disney Collectors Society. Tulgey Wood is so fun, fascinating and full of frolicsome photos and facts, it’s scary. So wander through the wonder of it all, and enjoy.

Not the Pumpkin King

An underrated Disney animated feature, The Black Cauldron (1985) also has its castle’s doorway darkened by an underrated Disney villain. The Horned King may not be the fascinating character that say, Maleficent, is, but he’s spooky for sure. A leading Disney authority has described this lesser known character as “scary in design.” You can spot him here on the cover of the rare coloring book. You’ll find much more that’s scary or spooky or silly but hopefully fun all through October here in our Countdown to Halloween 2024 blogathon. Be sure and pop in to the other blogs, too!

Cool book. I don't think I've ever seen this film!

The Black Cauldron is one of my favourite Disney films! I even did a review of the computer game based on the film a few years back....I wish we got the uncut version of the movie though!
