You’ve wandered into the topsy-turvy world of Tulgey Wood, the blog of writer and historian Jim Fanning. Tulgey Wood celebrates artistry and creativity (and sometimes just plain madness): movies, animation, TV, books, comics—and of course Disney, lots and lots of true-blue, through-and-through Disney, including D23 and Disney twenty-three Magazine, and Sketches Magazine and the Walt Disney Collectors Society. Tulgey Wood is so fun, fascinating and full of frolicsome photos and facts, it’s scary. So wander through the wonder of it all, and enjoy.

It's "Trick Or Treat" Day (But That Doesn't Mean Our Countdown Is Over)

On this October day in 1952—October 10, 1952, to be precise—Walt Disney's Trick or Treat first saw the inside of movie theaters, and movie audiences first laid eyes on Witch Hazel. And what an eyeful she is! As is this classic animated short, that is a Halloween favorite. Be sure and see the article I wrote for D23 a few Halloweens back here. And in the meantime, enjoy this mask that was published as the back cover of Donald Duck #26, the comic book that included Carl Barks' classic adaptation of the animated short. It's all part of the Countdown to Halloween. Be sure and check back tomorrow for more fun.

Cute mask! Your date here is October 10th, but the jist says it is "trick or treat day" and I am confused! LOL

Thanks as always for your comment, Joe.I was a little afraid that the headline was confusing and not clever! I made a few revisions to try and make it clearer that Trick or Treat day (as I use it here) means the anniversary of the day the cartoon entitled Trick or Treat was originally released. :-)
